Brunchinner: an end-of-day scrounge for jarred herring, runny eggs, chicken scraps, beans and leftover fries, while waiting for ravioli and hoping there's cake. Synonymous with: pancakes for dinner; ignoring recipes because you're overtired and brilliant; how Chicken n' Waffles was invented.
I write for these places, too. I learned about food and farming while studying writing, art and photography in the Finger Lakes, then watched the masters work as an intern at Gourmet (RIP) and Time Out New York. Now I write and doodle about food politics, artisans and odd phenomena like chocolate sneezes.
